Waterfall Crown Braid and a Smoky Eye

I love a good smoky eye. It has always been my go-to look. There is just something about it. It makes me feel sexy, confident, and stunning. Combine a smoky eye with some tousled waves and braids, and you've got a sultry date night look!

I created this dark smoky eye on Melissa using my Morphe 350 palette. First I dusted the lid and inner corner with some orange and red colors, then I layered a warm black eyeshadow over the top, blending the black into the orange. I wanted the orange to peek out around the darkness of the black lids. I lined her eyes and waterline with my MAC Smolder eye pencil, and I didn't have to add lashes because she already had lash extensions! I really wanted her beautiful eyes to pop! On the face I used MAC Face and Body foundation mixed with Becca Ever-Matte Shine-Proof Foundation and set it with MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Powder. The Becca foundation is very matte, which works well for more oily prone skin, but I didn't want it to be too flat looking. The Face and Body foundation thinned it out just enough that her oil was still controlled but her skin looked luminous.

I gave her face and cheeks some warmth using my MAC Sculpting Powder and Makeup For Ever Artist Face Color Palette. I used the MAC blush called "Gingerly" on her cheeks. She has AMAZING brows as it is, so I just filled them in slighty with some brown shadow from my Morphe 350 palette. I got to use my favorite matte lip paint from Tarte in "Namaste". I looove this lip paint. It goes on smoothly, doesn't ever look drying, and has great staying power.

For the hair I created a romantic look with some tousled waves and a waterfall crown braid. I'm not going to explain how I did the braid here, because it is really too much to type. BUT the secret to braids like this is to spray it well with texturizing hairspray after pancaking so that it will stay put! I used my 1 1/4" Hot Tools curling iron to create the waves. I lightly sprayed her hair with Chi 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protecting spray before curling. After it was all curled, I sprayed it with some firm hold hairspray.
