Mermaid Braids and a Natural Glow

Guys... I love braids. I always have. Since I was a little girl. So naturally, they are one of my favorite hairstyles to do! I love the braided mermaid hairstyles that are popular right now because they are actually so simple to create, but look SO cool.

I created this mermaid style half-up braid look on Makenzie here and gave her a nice natural yet dramatic makeup look. The braids are simple: one french braid down the middle of her head, then turned into a fishtail. The two side pieces are also just simple fishtail braids, criss-crossed. She had her hair in braids before which gave the rest of her hair that cool, crimped look. To help the braids and to give her hair some good texture, I sprayed it with a texturizing spray while braiding and after.

For the makeup, we used MAC Face and Body foundation mixed with Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24 hour foundation, dusted with a little MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Powder. I contoured her face using MAC Sculpting Powder and the highlighter in my Makeup For Ever Artist Face Color Palette.  I gave her cheeks some color with a MAC blush called "Gingerly". For the eyes I used my Morphe 350 palette and topped it off with some Ardell Double Wispie lashes, cut up how I like them. The lips are colored with a Buxom nude lip crayon, lined with a MAC lipliner in "Spice", and I threw some clear MAC Lipglass on top.

I'm so excited about how this look turned out! What hair and makeup looks would you like to see more of? Let me know in the comments!
